Long-term hair reduction for the face and body, personalized to your skin tone and hair type. Every treatment begins with a consultation to assess your skin, discuss your goals, and ensure laser hair removal is the right option for you.
The Difference It Makes

Why More Clients Are Choosing Laser Over Waxing and Shaving

Waxing, shaving, and threading are maintenance routines, not solutions. They address hair at the surface temporarily and begin the cycle all over again within days or weeks. The cost adds up. The time adds up. And the side effects, from ingrown hairs to skin irritation to post-waxing redness, are a regular part of the experience for many clients.
Laser hair removal works differently. Instead of removing hair from the surface, it targets the hair follicle itself the structure responsible for producing new hair growth. Over a course of sessions, the follicles in the treated area are progressively damaged to the point where they can no longer support active hair production. The result is a lasting, significant reduction in hair growth that most clients describe as genuinely life-changing compared to their previous routine.
This is not a one-session result, and it is not a permanent removal in every follicle for every client. But for the right candidate with the right technology and the right number of sessions, it is the most effective long-term hair reduction option currently available.
“Most of our clients tell us they wish they had done this sooner. The freedom from a weekly waxing or shaving routine is something they did not expect to feel as significant as it does.”

The Science

How Laser Hair Removal Works

Laser hair removal works through selective photothermolysis. Laser energy is emitted at a wavelength preferentially absorbed by melanin the pigment concentrated within the hair follicle and shaft. As the melanin absorbs the energy, it converts to heat that travels down the shaft into the follicle’s dermal papilla the structure responsible for new hair growth. When the papilla is sufficiently damaged, the follicle loses its ability to produce active hair.
Why multiple sessions are essential: Hair does not all grow at the same time. Every follicle cycles through three phases: anagen (active growth), catagen (transition), and telogen (rest). Laser is only effective on follicles in the anagen phase the only phase where the hair shaft is actively connected to the papilla and melanin concentration is highest. At any given time, only 20 to 30 percent of hairs in a treatment area are in this phase. Each session addresses the active follicles at that point. As you complete more sessions, the total active follicle population progressively diminishes.
At DermEsthetics, our treatments are performed using the GentleMax Pro by Candela Medical a dual-wavelength platform with a 755nm Alexandrite wavelength (most effective for Fitzpatrick types I to III) and a 1064nm Nd:YAG (safer and more effective for medium to deeper skin tones, Fitzpatrick types IV to VI). Built-in Dynamic Cooling Device technology delivers a brief protective burst before each pulse, protecting the skin surface and keeping sessions comfortable throughout.

Phase 1
Anagen

Active growth phase. The hair shaft is connected to the papilla -- melanin is concentrated and laser energy reaches the follicle effectively.

Phase 2
Catagen

Resting phase. The follicle is dormant and the hair shaft is shed or preparing to shed. Not a target for laser treatment.

Phase 3
Telogen

The thermal signal triggers fibroblasts to produce new collagen neocollagenesis that builds over months.

Where We Treat

Treatment Areas

Thermage skin tightening can be applied to six areas of the face and body, each using a precisely sized treatment tip matched to the anatomy being treated.
Face
Upper Lip and Chin
One of the most emotionally loaded hair concerns we see not because of volume, but because of visibility. Often linked to hormonal changes including pregnancy, perimenopause, and PCOS.
Hormonal influence continues to stimulate follicle activity even after successful treatment meaning facial hair may need more sessions than body areas. Our team will assess this honestly at consultation.
Typical sessions: 8 to 12 (with maintenance)
Spacing: 4 to 6 weeks
Underarms
Underarms
One of the most popular laser sites and typically one of the most satisfying. Underarm hair is usually coarse and dark, meaning high melanin concentration and a strong response to laser energy.
Sessions are fast the underarm area is small and typically treated in under 15 minutes. Most clients notice significant reduction in hair density after just 2 to 3 sessions.
Typical sessions: 6 to 8
Spacing: 4 to 6 weeks
Bikini and Brazilian
Bikini and Brazilian
A long-term alternative to regular waxing. Hair in this area is typically coarse and dark a good laser candidate. Many clients also report fewer ingrown hairs after laser treatment.
This area has some of the more sensitive skin on the body. Dynamic Cooling Device technology significantly reduces discomfort. Your specialist will confirm the options (bikini line, extended, or full Brazilian) at consultation.
Typical sessions: 6 to 8
Spacing: 4 to 6 weeks
Legs
Legs
Eliminates one of the most time-consuming body shaving routines. Leg hair tends to respond well to laser across a range of hair colours and skin tones.
Leg hair has a naturally longer growth cycle, so sessions are spaced slightly further apart than facial areas. Most clients notice visible thinning progressively through their course.
Typical sessions: 6 to 8
Spacing: 6 to 8 weeks
Arms
Arms
Full arms or lower arms only one of the more versatile treatment areas. Chosen for a range of reasons, from smooth skin year-round to managing hair that has become more visible over time.
Lighter, finer arm hair contains less melanin and may produce more variable results. Our team will be honest at consultation if your arm hair colour is likely to affect the expected outcome.
Typical sessions: 6 to 8
Spacing: 6 to 8 weeks
Back and Chest
Back and Chest
Available for all clients. Commonly requested for managing dense hair growth and improving skin comfort and confidence. Hair in this area is typically coarse and dark and responds well to laser.
Hormonal factors can influence regrowth here, particularly for clients with conditions affecting androgen levels. Our team will discuss this at consultation.
Typical sessions: 6 to 8
Spacing: 6 to 8 weeks
Why It Is Worth It

The Benefits of Laser Hair Removal

Long-Term Hair Reduction

Progressive, significant reduction in hair growth over a full course -- with far less regrowth than any surface hair removal method delivers.

No More Ongoing Routine

Once a full course is complete, most clients no longer need to maintain a waxing, shaving, or threading schedule -- freeing up considerable time and ongoing cost.

Comfortable, With Integrated Cooling

Built-in cooling technology delivers a protective burst before each pulse, keeping sessions comfortable even in more sensitive areas.

Calibrated to Your Skin and Hair

By targeting the follicle rather than removing hair at the surface, laser hair removal eliminates the skin trauma that causes ingrown hairs and shaving-related irritation.

Calibrated to Your Skin and Hair

Two available wavelengths allow our team to match the treatment to your specific skin tone and hair type -- not apply a single setting to every client.

No Downtime

Return to your normal daily routine immediately after each session. Minor redness settles within a few hours for most clients.

The DermEsthetics Difference

Why Choose DermEsthetics for Laser Hair Removal

Not all laser hair removal is the same. The difference between a satisfying, long-term result and an underwhelming one often comes down to two things: the technology being used and the expertise of the team operating it.
At DermEsthetics, every treatment is performed by a trained, credentialed member of our medical aesthetics team, working to protocols developed under the clinical oversight of Dr. Sadia Tarar, MBBS, our founder and clinical director with over 25 years of combined medical and aesthetics experience. We do not apply one setting to every client. We do not rush sessions to volume throughput. And we will always tell you honestly at consultation, before you book whether laser is the right approach for your skin tone, your hair type, and your goals.

The Right Wavelength for Your Skin

Our dual-wavelength laser system allows us to select the 755nm Alexandrite for lighter skin tones or the 1064nm Nd:YAG for medium to deeper skin tones -- whichever is safest and most effective for your profile.

Honest Session Planning

We discuss realistic session numbers for your specific area and hair type at consultation, so you know what to expect before you begin. No surprises, no upselling.

A Trained, Credentialed Team

Every specialist who performs your treatment is trained to DermEsthetics' clinical protocols and credentialed in the technology they operate. Consistent care at every visit.

Important to Know

Laser Hair Removal vs. IPL -- What Is the Difference?

Many clients come to us having tried IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatments and experienced inconsistent results. This is a common frustration and it matters to address directly. IPL is not laser. Understanding the difference helps explain why your previous experience may not reflect what medical-grade laser can achieve.
IPL -- Intense Pulsed Light
Broad-Spectrum Light
Medical-Grade Laser
Single, Precise Wavelength
If you have tried IPL before without the results you expected, that does not mean laser will not work for you. Our team will assess your hair and skin profile at consultation and give you an honest assessment of what laser can realistically achieve.
What to Expect

Your Treatment Experience at DermEsthetics

Consultation

Full skin and hair assessment. We review your skin tone, hair type and colour, area, health history, and medications. We discuss session numbers, realistic results, and what to do between sessions before you commit to anything.

Preparing for Treatment

Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment -- not wax or pluck. Shaving leaves the follicle intact for the laser to work with. Your specialist confirms all preparation at consultation.

The Treatment

Your specialist calibrates wavelength, energy, and spot size for your skin and area. Protective eyewear provided. Precise pulses with a brief cooling burst before each one. 10 to 60 minutes depending on area size.

Immediately After

Mild redness or warmth for a few hours -- normal and settles the same day. Treated hairs shed naturally over the following 1 to 3 weeks as follicles respond to the laser energy. This shedding is the treatment working.

Between Sessions

Consistent sun protection on treated areas. Avoid heat for 48 hours after each session. Return at the recommended interval to align with the next cohort of follicles entering their active phase.

What to Expect, Over Time

Results and Timeline

Results build progressively. Most clients notice a meaningful reduction in hair density and regrowth rate from the second or third session onward.

After Sessions 1 to 2

Treated hairs shed within 1 to 3 weeks of each session. Between sessions, patchy or uneven regrowth is normal different follicles are cycling through different phases.

After Sessions 3 to 4

Visible reduction in hair density and slower regrowth rate. Remaining hair tends to be finer and lighter than before treatment began.

After a Full Course

Most clients in the right candidate profile see 80 to 90 percent long-term reduction in treated hair -- the most significant and lasting improvement.

Ongoing Maintenance

Some follicles may reactivate over time, particularly in hormonally influenced areas. Occasional maintenance sessions -- typically once every 6 to 12 months -- help sustain results.

An honest note: Laser hair removal provides long-term hair reduction, not a guaranteed permanent removal of every follicle. Results vary based on hair colour, coarseness, skin tone, hormonal factors, and consistency with the recommended session schedule. Our team will give you an honest assessment of what is achievable for your specific profile at consultation.

Questions Answered

Frequently Asked Questions

Is laser hair removal permanent?
Laser hair removal produces long-term, significant hair reduction not a guaranteed permanent removal of every treated follicle for every client. Most clients who complete a full course see 80 to 90 percent long-term reduction in treated hair, with remaining hair being finer and lighter. Some follicles may reactivate over time, particularly in hormonally influenced areas, and occasional maintenance sessions help sustain results. At DermEsthetics we use the term “long-term hair reduction” because that is what the clinical evidence supports we will not promise more than that.
It varies by area and individual hair and skin profile. Most body areas respond well within 6 to 8 sessions. Facial areas with hormonal influence, such as the upper lip and chin, may require 8 to 12 sessions. Your specialist will give you a personalised recommendation at consultation.
We use the GentleMax Pro by Candela Medical, a dual-wavelength platform with 755nm Alexandrite and 1064nm Nd:YAG wavelengths. This allows our team to select the most appropriate wavelength for your skin tone — a decision that directly affects both the safety and effectiveness of your treatment.
Yes, when the right wavelength is selected. Our 1064nm Nd:YAG wavelength penetrates more deeply and has lower absorption by surface epidermal melanin than shorter-wavelength alternatives, making it a safe and effective choice for clients with medium to deeper skin tones (Fitzpatrick types IV to VI). Your skin tone will be assessed at consultation.
This is an important question and one we answer honestly. Laser works by targeting melanin in the hair follicle. Very light, blonde, red, and grey hairs have insufficient melanin for the laser to reliably target, which means laser hair removal is unlikely to produce adequate results for these hair colours. If your hair is very light or grey, our team will discuss this with you at consultation and advise on whether treatment is appropriate.
Yes. Most clients describe each pulse as a brief, warm snapping sensation — similar to the flick of a rubber band. Our laser system’s built-in Dynamic Cooling Device delivers a protective cooling burst before each pulse, significantly reducing discomfort throughout. Sensitive areas such as the bikini line or upper lip are well-tolerated by most clients with this cooling in place.
No. Most clients experience mild redness and warmth in the treated area for a few hours following each session similar to mild sunburn and return to their normal routine immediately. We recommend avoiding heat and direct sun exposure for 48 hours after each session.
Shaving removes the hair from the surface but leaves the follicle and hair shaft intact beneath the skin. The laser energy travels down the hair shaft to reach the follicle so the shaft needs to be present. Waxing and plucking remove the entire hair including the root, leaving the follicle empty and the laser without a pathway to the papilla. Shaving 24 hours before your appointment gives the best treatment outcome.
No. Between sessions, shaving is the only appropriate interim method of hair management. Waxing, plucking, or threading removes the hair shaft that the laser needs to work with and will reduce the effectiveness of your next session.
Session spacing depends on the treatment area. Facial and smaller body areas are typically spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Larger body areas like legs, arms, and back are typically spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart to align with longer hair growth cycles. Your specialist will confirm the right timing at consultation.
Yes, in many cases — but your results may require more sessions and more regular maintenance than a client without significant hormonal influence. Hormonal conditions that stimulate ongoing follicle activity mean that new follicles may become active over time even after successfully treating existing ones. Our team will discuss your medical history at consultation and build a realistic session plan accordingly.
No. Immediately after your session, treated hairs are still in the skin. Over the 1 to 3 weeks following each session, the treated hairs gradually shed as the follicles respond to the laser energy. This shedding is a normal and expected part of the process. Between sessions, you may notice patchy regrowth as follicles in different growth phases cycle through — this is also normal.
Keep the treated area away from direct sun exposure and apply SPF 30 or higher consistently. Avoid heat-generating activities for 48 hours. Keep your skincare routine gentle and avoid active ingredients for the first 48 hours. Do not wax or pluck between sessions. Your specialist will provide personalised aftercare guidance at the end of every appointment.
Often yes many clients combine their laser hair removal course with other treatments at DermEsthetics. Your specialist will advise on appropriate timing and sequencing to ensure treatments support rather than interfere with each other.
